Day 1 : Moshi – Rongai Gate
Starts from the northern side of the mountain’s, currently not very popular but one of the easiest routes for climbing the mountain. Immediately after breakfast you will travel from Moshi town or Arusha wherever you will be staying and head to Marangu gate for climber registration and briefing. Drive to Rongai Gate about 2-3 hours drive for overnight at First Caves Camp.

Walking time: 3-4 hours
Altitude gain: 700 m/2300 ft
Day 2 : 1st Caves Camp – Kikelewa Cave
After breakfast, you’ll start climbing towards Kikelewa Cave. You will rest at 2nd Caves for lunch and warm up in some fireside banter.
You’ll start enjoying the country’s landscape below as you gain altitude.
Walking distance: 9 km/5.6 miles
Walking time: 6-7 hours
Altitude gain: 950 m/3110 ft.
Day 3 : Kikelewa Cave – Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Mawenzi Tarn provides a unique and spectacular view, stone towers makes a unique camping experience.
Walking time: 3-4 hours
Altitude gain: 730 m/2400 ft
Afternoon acclimatization walk to about 4500 m/14760 ft
Day 4 : Mawenzi Tarn Camp – Kibo Hut
Between 4-5 hours of hiking you will arrive at Kibo Hut situated between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
A beautiful view of an alpine desert is experienced in this day. Overnight stay at Kibo Hut and you can make you attempt for the summit very early in the morning the following day.

Day 5 : Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut
This day requires that you start early, preferably at midnight, walking through darkness for about 6 hours. Do not worry, Hot breakfast will be served before departure. If you keep your pace right you will Arrive at Stella Point some few hours before dawn. At this point, the final stretch takes about 2 hours of intense hiking to reach Uhuru Peak. You will enjoy a spectacular sunrise At 5,985m.
You’ll then descend back to Horombo Hut via Kibo Hut.
Day 6 : Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, start your downhill journey. Descending is kind of easier than the climbing, enjoy your descend to the Marangu Gate.
At the foot of the mountain, you will be driven to your hotel for your stay and onward journey.
